Happy and Thankful for Christ and the Local Church, Lucy Litowitz

My name is Lucy Litowitz. I live in Houston, Texas. I'm happily married and have three dear sons. I teach English as a Second Language to foreign students who are preparing to go to college here in the United States. I have been reading the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee and meeting with the local churches since 1974.

My salvation had been dynamic and joyful. I knew that I had finally found the most wonderful person in the universe, Jesus Christ; and I also sensed deep within that He had a plan for my new life in Him. However, I knew nothing of the way to grow nor did I have one to guide me. After several months, I began to despair, thinking that because I had gradually lost feeling of that initial joy that I had lost my Savior, too.

But, hallelujah, at the Lord's appointed time (about six months later) I was brought to a Bible study at the University of Houston campus. I was skeptical, at first, due to my backslidden condition, but as I gazed upon the shining faces of all the young students in that room and sang sweet songs with them to my Lord, my love for Him was rekindled. I sensed once again the very same special joy that I had experienced at my salvation.

As I continued to meet with these believers, I was shepherded (John 21:16) for the first time by some faithful sisters who helped me to learn to pray and read the Bible, taking it as my spiritual food (Ephesians 6:17-18; John 6:56-57, 63). I began to grow in faith and love and the besetting sins of my old life in the world started to drop off one by one. As I entered into regular times of fellowship with these dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, my living began to be filled with Christ. Inwardly, there was a wonderful witness that I was finally on the right track.

Through the ministry books of both Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, the Bible began to make sense. I saw that God had an eternal purpose that began in Genesis and continued to Revelation, and He was working it out in a practical way on earth today. This vision gave purpose to my Christian walk. It empowered me to take the narrow way as I saw that my growth in Christ was not just for my own enjoyment but much more for the building up of the one body of Christ which includes all believers everywhere (Ephesians 4:15-16) I am so happy and thankful to the Lord for His mercy in having me meet with the local church for these past years. I am seeing a brighter vision day by day, and this vision is being worked out in a very practical way on earth to testify to all the world of our Christ.
